Oxford is a short drive up the A34 from our base in Drayton, and we clear houses and flats across the city regularly, from the Victorian terraces of Cowley, Iffley Road and East Oxford to the flats above shops on the Cowley Road and the larger houses in Summertown and Headington. The city's housing is dense and varied, much of it built close to the road with narrow frontages, and a good number of properties sit within controlled parking zones that restrict where a van can load.

A lot of our Oxford work involves clearing properties connected to the university and colleges, including shared houses and flats let to students that need a full turnaround between tenancies, often with a tight deadline before the next occupants move in. We also clear family homes in areas like Headington and Marston following a bereavement or a house sale, and we are used to dealing with the narrow stairs and small landings typical of Oxford's older terraced housing, where large furniture sometimes has to be taken apart to get it out.

Further out, areas such as Blackbird Leys, Rose Hill and Barton have more 1950s and 60s council-built housing with gardens, sheds and garages, and clearances here are often full-property jobs following a bereavement or a move into supported housing, with a bit more space to work in than the tight terraces closer to the centre. North Oxford, around Summertown and Cutteslowe, has larger detached and semi-detached houses, some owned by the same family for generations, where a single clearance can involve several rooms of furniture, books and belongings built up over 40 or 50 years.

Jericho and the streets around it have small Victorian workers' cottages, many now in conservation areas, with original narrow staircases and doorways that limit what can be carried out whole. In Iffley village and along the river, older stone and brick cottages occasionally suffer damp in ground-floor rooms or outbuildings, particularly after a wet winter, which affects what can be salvaged during a clearance.

Around Botley and the western edge of the city, semi-detached houses from the 1930s sit alongside newer flats built as the city has expanded, and we clear both, from a single downsizing bedroom to a full house after a bereavement. Headington also has a strong medical and university presence, so we occasionally clear staff accommodation and shared professional lets alongside the more usual family homes and student houses, often working around shift patterns and set moving-out dates.

Oxford's one-way systems, resident permit zones and college delivery restrictions mean timing and route matter as much as the clearance itself, so we always ask for the exact street and any known restrictions when booking a survey, which keeps things moving on the day rather than losing time to parking.

We also handle plenty of transitional Oxford moves, from a family relocating out of a large Summertown house into a smaller property, to a landlord managing several student lets across East Oxford at once.
